On Sunday at 8:01 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a special weather statement until Monday at midnight for Clinton and Essex counties.
The weather service adds to expect, "Areas of dense fog. Visibility may drop to around a half mile at times."
"Hazardous driving conditions due to suddenly reduced visibility. Travel will be difficult in some areas," says the weather service. "Motorists should be prepared for highly variable visibility over short distances. If driving, slow down, use low-beam headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you."
