ALTAMONT, Ill. (WCIA) -- An Effingham County catering company is getting back in the kitchen after a fire brought their business to a halt last month.
Deb's Catering in Altamont lost about half of their building when fire destroyed a garage, storage and refrigeration. Now, the Lake Land College Board of Trustees is set to approve a temporary lease for the business.
Owner Al Schultz said this will help Deb's Catering fill a void in the community after the fire forced them to stop preparing food.
"[We] are leasing the space so we can continue with our Meals on Wheels program for the elderly. And then we are going to be able to do Head Start and our daycare centers that we take care of. There's a big need for it in this area," Schultz said.
