Police are appealing for potential victims of a man who has been charged with raping and assaulting a woman in a small Queensland town to come forward.

The 45-year-old from Amamoor near Gympie is accused of physically and sexually assaulting a woman he knew in October at a property where they both live separately.

The woman was aged over 60.

Gympie CIB Officer in Charge Detective Acting Sergeant Kiel Duggen said detectives are appealing for further victims who had also lived at the same property.

"We reasonably believe there may be more people that have been the victims alleged sexual offences committed by the man, and not reported it to police," Detective Acting Sergeant Duggen said.

"Please be assured that we'll treat you and your story with sensitivity, dignity and respect."
