A juvenile male has been released to the custody of his parents after leading mall security and deputies on a dangerous high-speed chase through the Victoria Gardens Mall in Rancho Cucamonga on an E-bike over the weekend.

The Nov. 8 incident played out at around 6:30 p.m. when security personnel working at the sprawling 147-acre outdoor shopping center attempted to contact the teen, prompting him to flee to another area of complex, officials with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

“When deputies attempted to contact the rider, he drove at unsafe speeds, performed dangerous stunt maneuvers, made illegal turns and nearly struck multiple pedestrians and motorists,” authorities said. “His actions endangered pedestrians, motorists and himself.”
