SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A local man is helping the homeless community in downtown South Bend.
Alex Howard and his family were out today by Michigan and Monroe streets with traditional Thanksgiving food to give out to the homeless.
They made over 100 plates of food, which had turkey, green beans, yams and cranberry sauce. They also gave out clothing like skullcaps, gloves, socks and shoes.

Howard does this one Sunday a month, and this is his seventh month. He says his goal is to meet the people, really talk to them and listen.
“The people used to come out and ask me what church I was from or who is doing this. I said, ‘Man, God just told me to tell y’all we love you and we ain’t forgot about you.’ Brothers and sist
