Renowned Telugu poet Ande Sri, who wrote Telangana's state song Jaya Jayahe Telangana , died in Hyderabad on Monday. He was 64.
Family members found Ande Sri lying on the floor of his residence in the morning and rushed him to hospital, where he was declared brought dead, according to a PTI report. He succumbed despite treatment, according to reports by local media outlets.
Ande Sri, also known as Andeshri, is best known for his deeply emotional, socially conscious poetry and lyrics of Telugu film songs.
Ande Sri was an orphan and grew up in poverty. He was largely self-educated. Despite no formal schooling, he rose to become a prominent Telugu poet.
He played a significant role in the Telangana movement, which led to the creation of the state with the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh
