Isaiah Sittauer and Whitworth football are on the verge of a Northwest Conference championship.
A junior from Battle Ground, Sittauer has established himself as a reliable starting tackle on the offensive line. He has played in every game, including Saturday’s 29-0 win over Willamette in which the offense gained 395 yards.
A backup last year, Sittauer seized the opportunity that arose when all five starters graduated from last season’s offensive line.
Whitworth is now 6-0 in conference play, with its biggest win coming Oct. 18 in a 30-20 over perennial conference power Linfield. That clinched at least a share of the conference title and secured an automatic berth into the NCAA Division-III playoffs.
The Pirates (7-2) can wrap up the conference title outright with a win over Puget Sound
