Donald Trump has hit out at the “corrupt” BBC following the resignation of two of its senior executives.

Director general Tim Davie and Deborah Turness, the chief executive of BBC News, resigned amid claims Panorama “doctored” a speech made by the US president shortly before the January 6 riots in 2020.

The row was sparked after the Daily Telegraph revealed a 19-page report sent to the BBC board by Michael Prescott, a former external adviser to the corporation’s editorial guidelines and standards committee.

Samir Shah, the BBC’s chairman, is expected to issue an apology on Monday.
