BBC chair Samir Shah has apologised for what he described as an “error of judgement” in the editing of a documentary featuring a speech by US President Donald Trump, following hundreds of viewer complaints, reported BBC. In a letter to the UK parliament’s culture, media and sport committee, Shah acknowledged that the way Trump’s speech was edited in the Panorama programme “did give the impression of a direct call for violent action.” “The BBC would like to apologise for that error of judgement,” Shah wrote, adding that the matter had prompted “further reflection” within the organisation.
