A significant explosion occurred in a car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi on Monday evening, resulting in one death and multiple injuries. The blast, which took place around 6:55 PM, caused panic in the high-security area, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
The Delhi Fire Department reported that they received an emergency call shortly after the explosion. Seven fire tenders and 15 ambulances were dispatched to the scene. The fire spread to three nearby vehicles, which were completely destroyed before firefighters managed to control the situation.
Police sources indicated that the explosion was powerful enough to shatter nearby streetlights. Senior officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police from the Special Cell, arrived at the site to oversee the investigation. Forensic teams are currently examining the area, and the police have cordoned off the vicinity, issuing a high alert across the capital.
