"The blast was so intense it felt like the earth caved in and that I was going to die," said one of the eyewitnesses as at least eight people were killed, and 24 others were injured after an explosion was reported from a car near the Red Fort, Delhi’s iconic historical monument, on Monday evening. The explosion was so strong that the street lights were shattered, and several vehicles were also damaged as the car caught fire.

The explosion occurred in car a near Gate No. 1 of Delhi’s Red Fort (Lal Qila) Metro Station on Monday evening. The car went up in flames and several other nearby cars were also gutted. After the blast, the national capital has been put on high alert .
