A Meridian man was arrested Thursday after authorities say a search warrant led to the discovery of drugs and a firearm at a home on the 900 block of 38th Avenue.

According to Lauderdale County Sheriff Ward Calhoun, members of the East Mississippi Drug Task Force and the Lauderdale County SWAT Unit executed the warrant around 2 p.m. on Nov. 6 following a lengthy investigation.

Deputies reportedly recovered about an ounce of methamphetamine, 49 dosage units of ecstasy, and a firearm during the search.

Aldrick Carpenter was taken into custody and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm within 1,500 feet of a church, trafficking ecstasy while in possession of a firearm within 1,500 feet of a church, felon in possession of a fire
