A man has been jailed for 12 years following a violent and sexual assault in Rochester . Danny Bailey forced his way into the victim’s property in Rochester during the early hours of June 28, 2024.

The woman had opened the door believing it was a neighbour, but Bailey pushed her back inside and made threats to kill her. He then raped the victim and physically assaulted her, leaving her with cuts to her lip and scratches on her neck.

The victim managed to escape and lock herself in an upstairs bedroom, where her screams were heard by a neighbour who called police. Bailey had fled the scene before officers arrived but was arrested shortly afterwards at his home in Brompton Lane, Strood .
