ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) - A Charlotte woman won $4 million on a scratch-off lottery ticket she recently purchased at a gas station.

Swati Amin bought the $30 Carolina Black Premier ticket from BJ’s Foot Mart on Michigan Avenue in Asheville, where she occasionally works.

She said she decided to buy the ticket after finishing a shift, not knowing she would end up winning one of the game’s three top prizes.

Lottery officials said when claiming her prize at lottery headquarters on Friday, Nov. 7, she had a choice to make.

Amin could receive the money as an annuity of $200,000 per year for 20 years, or as a lump sum of $2.4 million. She chose the lump sum, and after taxes, took home $1,722,008.
