MAGNOLIA, Ark. — Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division reported that it is investigating an officer-involved shooting of a Magnolia man.
According to a spokesperson, the investigation was requested by the Magnolia Police Department.
Officials reported that on Nov. 9, an MPD Officer on patrol along South Fredrick Road stopped a 53-year-old man from Magnolia, who allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot at the officer. The officer responded by firing back, hitting the suspect multiple times.
The suspect was taken to a Little Rock hospital, where he is still being held, officials said.
Special Agents will compile an investigative file for the Columbia County Prosecutor's Office, which will decide whether the use of deadly force aligns with Arkansas law, officials said.
