TRAVERSE CITY — Protect the Peninsula on Monday outlined its settlement objectives in the lawsuit brought by the Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula and 11 wineries against Peninsula Township, and announced a public forum later this month.
According to a Nov. 10 news release from the citizen group, it published Five Core Settlement Principles that call for clear, fair, winery-specific terms that emphasize winemaking and wine sales, with expanded agritourism to support the long-term sustainability of the township’s agricultural community.
PTP said any agreement should relieve taxpayers of damages liability and ensure consistent enforcement and better compliance.
