KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The attorneys for the former West High School coach facing sexual battery charges filed a motion asking for his GPS monitoring device to be removed, court documents stated.
Richard Shaver, 58, was indicted on four counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and two counts of attempted sexual battery by an authority figure. The alleged incidents happened between August and November 2024 and involved a victim between 13 and 18 years old.
In a motion obtained by 6 News, Shaver's lawyers asked to remove the GPS monitoring device that was part of his bonding conditions. The motion argues that Shaver has not violated any of the bond conditions since he was bonded out and has had no contact with the victim since February.
