There was a lot of football to be played on Saturday, with the middle school football state semifinals played at Somerset's William Clark Field. With four local teams, including all three of Meece's football teams and Northern's eighth grade competing, a special day was in store.

Meece eighth grade kicked off the day in the Division Three semifinals against a tremendous Pikeville team. In what turned out to be the game of the day, a missed two-point conversion came back to haunt Pikeville as Meece was able to score to tie things up at 14-14. The Jumpers were able to kick a successful extra point to go ahead 15-14, with their defense stepping up in a major way to hold on to the one-point victory. They will take on Christian Academy of Louisville in the Division Three championship game.
