Fresno firefighters battled three separate structure fires across the city overnight, leaving several residents displaced and one hospitalized for smoke inhalation, officials said Monday.
The first fire broke out around 11:30 p.m. Sunday in a vacant commercial building on the 800 block of F Street in downtown Fresno. Fire crews had to cut through multiple security bars and gates to gain entry. One person was found inside and taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation. The building sustained significant damage.
At 1:30 a.m., firefighters responded to a residential home on the 1100 block of North Adoline, encountering heavy smoke and flames at the rear of the property. The occupant escaped safely, but the house was heavily damaged and is no longer habitable.
