OMAHA, Neb. —
In a letter to shareholders Monday, the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett, shared a Thanksgiving message.
In it, he announced he converted 1,800 A shares of Berkshire Hathaway into 2.7 million B shares. He said he plans to give those B shares to four family foundations: 1.5 million to The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation and 400,000 shares to each of the Sherwood Foundation, the Howard G. Buffett Foundation and the NoVo Foundation.
The donations were delivered Monday.
Buffett explained, "The acceleration of my lifetime gifts to my children's foundation in no way reflects any change in my views about Berkshire's prospects." He added that Greg Abel has more than met expectations.
