CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- Carbondale police responded to a report of an armed robbery on the 500 block of South Illinois Avenue recently. Police said a group of suspects reportedly attempted to rob a victim, with one suspect armed with a gun.
Officers identified Jared Gibbs, 18, and Clayton Maclin, 19, both from Carbondale, as suspects. Police said they were found near the robbery location.
A third suspect, a juvenile, was also arrested nearby. Carbondale PD stated their officers also recovered a discarded firearm during the investigation.
According to online court records, Gibbs and Maclin both were charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Attempted Armed Robbery. They were taken to the Jackson County Jail.
