Zillow, the nation's leading real estate platform, is facing a new class-action lawsuit that claims the company used illegal kickbacks that encouraged affiliated agents to steer homebuyers to use its own mortgage business.
The lawsuit, filed on Nov. 7 in the U.S. District Court in Seattle, states that Zillow allegedly requires those in its Premier Agents and Flex program to meet specific Zillow Home Loan pre-approval quotas. Those that meet the quotas receive better leads and placement, the lawsuit said, while those who don't receive less leads or removal from the program.
