FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) - More than $100,000 will support new wildlife habitat projects across Wisconsin, including work in Fond Du Lac County, according to the Wisconsin Department of National Resources (DNR) and Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin.
A press release from the DNR says the funding comes from the Cherish Wisconsin Outdoors Fund, which relies on voluntary donations made when hunters and anglers purchase their licenses.
In Fund Du Lac County, $15,596 will help remove invasive plants and support a prescribed burn at the Kettle Moraine State Forest - Northern Unit near the Ice Age Visitor Center. The project aims to restore native plants and improve habitat for several at-risk species. The area is open for hunting, fishing, trapping, and hiking.
