Get ready to experience Michigan's Indigenous cultures this weekend at a powwow in the eastern Upper Peninsula.
Bay Mills Community College is a tribal college within the Bay Mills Indian Community , a federally recognized Ojibwe tribe in Brimley, about 17 miles west of Sault Ste. Marie in the U.P. The college is inviting the public to its Pow Wow on Nov. 15 at the Ojibwe Charter School Gymnasium in Brimley.
Michigan is celebrating Native American Heritage Month in November, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist announced in a Nov. 1 proclamation.
