Three weeks before he was set to meet his old team on Monday Night Football, Brian Daboll was fired as head coach of the New York Giants. The former New England Patriots assistant, who had been with the team since 2022, was let go after a 2-8 start and 20-40-1 overall record during his tenure with the organization.

“We spoke this morning about the direction of our franchise on the field, and we have decided that, at this time, it is in our best interest to make a change at the head coaching position,” team owners John Mara and Steve Tisch said in a joint statement.

“The past few seasons have been nothing short of disappointing, and we have not met our expectations for this franchise. We understand the frustrations of our fans, and we will work to deliver a significantly improved product.
