EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Authorities are investigating a burglary at Animal Care and Control in Evansville, where a dog was reported stolen.
The incident occurred early Saturday morning when the front door was smashed, and the lock on the back door was broken.
Evansville Police Department (EPD) officers responded to a break-in alarm at the facility.
"When they arrived they noticed the front door had been busted by a large rock," said Sgt. Anthony Aussieker, public information officer for EPD. "They went inside and found one of the kennels had been opened and that dog had been removed," Aussieker said.
The lock on the back door was also destroyed, leading authorities to believe the burglar exited through the back with the dog.
