Security across Chandigarh was Monday tightened late in the evening after a powerful explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro station that killed at least eight people and injured several others.
Acting swiftly on Central intelligence alerts, the Chandigarh Police placed the city on high alert, intensifying checking and patrolling at key public locations including the railway station, inter-state bus terminals (ISBTs), and crowded market areas.
Senior officials confirmed that the alert was sounded immediately after reports of the Delhi blast emerged. Police Control Room (PCR) teams and local police stations were directed to begin joint patrolling in all high-footfall areas and vital installations.
