UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV) -- We’ve got a stretch of true winter-like weather setting in for the next couple of days! Cold northwest winds blowing over Lake Ontario are helping to trigger lake effect snow, along with scattered snow showers across the region. A Winter Weather Advisory is in place from this evening through Tuesday evening for Madison, Onondaga, northern Oneida, and southern Oneida counties, where around 3 to 6 inches of snow may accumulate. The snow won’t sit in one spot the whole time, since the bands will shift, but that just helps spread the totals around. Roads could get slippery at times, especially overnight or during those heavier bursts, so plan on slower travel Tuesday morning and again later in the day.
