LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Auditor Allison Ball is calling out Fayette County Public Schools for what she says amounts to wasteful spending on duplicate audit work, accusing district leaders of seeking a “district-controlled auditor” instead of working with her independent office.

In a sharply worded letter dated November 10, Ball expressed frustration that the financially troubled school district issued a request for proposals for audit services that mirrors work her office is already conducting.
