John Laws, the legendary Australian radio host nicknamed “Golden Tonsils” for his signature voice, has died. He was 90.

Laws died “peacefully” on Nov. 9 at his home in Woolloomooloo, Australia, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation .

No cause of death was given. Laws previously was hospitalized for two weeks in October, per ABC.

“Today marks a very difficult day for our family, with the news that our beloved father/grandfather/uncle John Laws has died peacefully at home,” his family said in a statement.
