Former late-night host Jay Leno spoke openly about caring for his wife Mavis, who was diagnosed with advanced dementia, telling attendees at a California charity event that he finds joy in their time together rather than viewing it as a burden.
The 75-year-old comedian addressed his caregiving experience on Sunday while serving as grand marshal for the 34th Annual Love Ride in Glendale, a charity motorcycle event that has raised over $25 million since 1984, PEOPLE reports.
“I like taking care of her. I enjoy her company, and we have a good time,” Leno said of Mavis, his wife since 1980.
The comedian rejected the notion that caring for his wife of 46 years has become difficult work.
