It may be that we are approaching getting older in the wrong way, according to Rabbi Michael Ungar of Northeast Ohio-based At Home Senior Fitness.
“There is this message as we get older ,that it’s time to sit in a rocking chair and learn to crochet,” he said. “But how about learning to do a 5K, even if you just get out and walk it?”
That shift in messaging and mindset is important, Ungar said because “physical activity can affect a senior’s physical and well-being.”
“Exercise can help us prevent the loss of muscle mass,” he explained. “That gives you the strength to maintain your balance and mobility so that you can continue doing the things that you want to do.”
