RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Meredith College students and alumni demonstrated at a planned walkout on Monday. Some students say their professors canceled classes so they could voice their concerns.

Students say they feel like professors are being overworked because of recent changes and that it's impacting the quality of their education.

"Currently right now with the state of the college, the flaws are outweighing the benefits," said Meredith student Ronnie Nigh.

"It's a breaking point," said Meredith student Alana Barber. We're all tired and sick of dealing with this."

Over the summer, Meredith laid off six percent of its staff to balance the budget.
