EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Tuesday is Veterans Day, and to honor those who served, the East Lansing Community held a wreath-laying ceremony.
The event was held on Monday at the Hannah Community Center.
One of the men honored was 2nd Lieutenant Sherrod Skinner Jr. of the US Armed Forces. He was a Korean War veteran who grew up in East Lansing.
He was killed in action on Oct. 26, 1952, and was awarded the congressional medal of honor.
“We value all of our veterans that serve throughout the country but our veteran employees make up a big part of our community here in East Lansing. A lot of the principles and driving factors that make wonderful veterans make great employees,” said Adrian Ojerio with the East Lansing Police Honor Guard.
