LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -A Lansing school bus driver has received national recognition for her 21 years of service transporting students.
Jackie Wilkerson-Brown, known as Miss Jackie to students she drives to and from Gardner and Lewton schools, won the 2025 School Bus Driver Hero Award from School Bus Fleet Magazine.
“I was like, seriously, seriously, seriously, and I just started crying,” Wilkerson-Brown said.
The award is the first ever handed out by School Bus Fleet Magazine, which covers school bus operations across the country.
Patrick Dean, president of Dean Transportation, said the honor reflects Wilkerson-Brown’s commitment to students.
“Jackie exemplifies everything it means to be a superhero bus driver,” Dean said. “This is an unbelievable honor for Jackie.”
