WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — This week is a big moment for the LGBTQ+ community who were waiting on the Supreme Court's decision to revisit the same sex marriage decision. The Supreme Court announced Monday morning they rejected a challenge to their 2015 decision brought by former Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis.
Davis had appealed a lower court decision requiring her to pay more than $360,000 in damages and legal fees to a same sex couple after she refused to issue marriage licenses following the 2015 Obergefell v Hodges decision that extended marriage rights to all couples, regardless of sex or gender, nationwide.
For Johanna Schubert, the co-chair of West Hartford Pride, Monday came with a sigh of relief.
