TEXARKANA, Texas (KSLA) - City leaders are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Texarkana, Texas’ historic city hall, a building that has served as the anchor for city government since 1925.
“It’s just great to know that over the past 100 years that there have been major decisions based on the future of our community and our city done in one building and also in one particular room which is the council chambers,” said Texarkana Mayor Bob Bruggeman.
The present city hall is located in downtown Texarkana at the intersection of West Third and Texas Boulevard. This is the second city hall building constructed at this location.
Over the past year, a special committee has made a series of updates and improvements on the structure, which has caught the eye of Texas state leaders.
