WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Monday marks 110 years since a deadly tornado outbreak struck Kansas and Oklahoma.
On the night of Nov. 10, 1915, multiple tornadoes touched down, two of which were estimated to be F4s, devastating some Kansas communities.
The worst of these, which had a 35-mile path and a width of 900 feet, struck Great Bend.
Eleven people were killed, 75 were injured, 165 homes were destroyed and 1,000 sheep were killed, according to the National Weather Service.
Hundreds of dead ducks fell from the sky around 25 miles northeast of the end of the tornado's track, and a canceled check from Great Bend was discovered hundreds of miles away in Nebraska.
