LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Webb County Commissioners Court met on Monday morning with plenty of items on the agenda.

One item that was talked about for a decent amount of time was item 23.

To sum it all up, The Webb County DWI and Juvenile Drug Treatment (JDT) Courts lost state grant funding from The Office of the Texas Governor for Fiscal Year 2025. This defunding resulted in the loss of four personnel slots: a DWI Court Case Manager (FT), a DWI Court Administrative Assistant (PT), a Judicial Communications Specialist (FT), and a Juvenile Drug Treatment Court Administrative Assistant (FT).

So, Honorable Victor Villarreal, County Court at Law 2 Judge took to the court, seeking to move away from grant funding and strictly to the county.
