PHOENIX — Walking into the Lit Twis’t, customers are greeted by row after row of colorful books. A wall of framed Essence covers. Colorful, bookish goodies.
The trailer may be small, but it is filled with a sense of community.
What is the Lit Twis't?
It’s the Valley's first and only Black, woman-owned mobile bookstore.
Owner and founder Petra Sherbin-Fox has always been a reader. But when she found out how few bookstores carry titles written by women of color on their shelves, she knew she wanted to be part of the change.
"I personally get frustrated going to Barnes and Noble's the Target, the larger retailers, and having to sift through books that are written by Black or brown women," Sherbin-Fox explained. "Then I also started doing research, because research and numbers never lie,
