COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man is facing charges following an incident last week inside The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s University Hospital involving a newborn and a nurse, according to Ohio State officials.

The incident occurred Thursday evening inside University Hospital when a man "engaged in disruptive behavior while holding a newborn," according to a spokesperson for Wexner Medical Center.

According to the hospital spokesperson, the male visitor pulled a nurse by her shirt collar as the nurse tried to secure the baby. Staff and security de-escalated the situation, and the baby was unharmed.

The man was taken to the emergency department for a medical evaluation, according to the hospital spokesperson.
