LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - The family of a University of Kansas pre-med student killed in a hit-and-run crash is remembering her as someone dedicated to helping others and rooted in her faith.

Elsa McGrain, 20, was jogging Thursday night in Lawrence when she was struck by a driver who fled the scene. Police found her body the next morning and arrested a 36-year-old man on Sunday in connection with her death.

McGrain was set to graduate in 2026. Her parents said she was a junior with a 4.0 GPA who balanced school, her faith community, and her sorority.
