MOORHEAD — With so much uncertainty for families on SNAP, area churches are stepping up to try and fill some of the gaps.
Congregations are not only helping feed strangers, they are also getting food to their own members.
At the United Church of Christ in Moorhead on Monday, Nov. 10, members of the congregation fill an outdoor cart with food. It is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
"It is really meeting a need now. We fill it everyday and every day it is empty at the end of the day, there is never food there the next day," said Steve Grineski, UCC Moorhead member.
Because of the uncertainty and confusion around federal SNAP benefits, members of the church have been going out to buy food, raising money in this small congregation to make sure the wagon near the church is full every
