A conditional-use permit for live entertainment past 11 p.m. for a Midtown Reno bar was unanimously approved by the Reno Planning Commission on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
In approving the permit for Jupiter Red, the Commission added an amendment restricting the bar from operating live entertainment past 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, but this restriction sunsets after six months unless the City of Reno decides otherwise.
Bars are currently allowed to operate for 24 hours by right in the mixed-use zones like Midtown and downtown, but the city now requires a conditional-use permit if a bar wants to have live entertainment past 11 p.m .
Reno senior policy analyst Grace Mackedon said the bar has received complaints regarding noise and security, but police and code enforcement monitored it over
