With freezing temperatures settling in and grocery budgets stretched thin, more people are turning to emergency shelters for help.

“The minute the weather turns, there's a need,” said Kim Webb, executive director at the shelter.

The first snowfall of the year is driving a growing number of people to seek warmth and safety in emergency shelters.

“Full last night, with the exception we had a few women's beds open,” Webb said. “But I checked with staff, and we turned away about 10 folks at the door.”
