AVONDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — An Avondale high school is mourning the death of one of its band members after she was shot and killed reportedly while she slept during the weekend .

Police said they found 17-year-old Rhiana Kemplin shot inside an apartment at Rio Santa Fe Apartments , near Dysart Road and McDowell Road , just before 6:30 a.m. Saturday. She died at the hospital.

According to a verified GoFundMe page , Kemplin was killed in her home while she was sleeping. The online fundraiser also said she looked forward to graduating high school and cosmetology. She wanted to continue her education at ASU and play in band there.

“Her infectious laugh and kind spirit will be missed every single day,” the GoFundMe said.
