WASHINGTON, D.C. (ABC22/FOX44) - The end could finally be in sight for the nation's longest government shutdown, as eight democratic senators, including both from New Hampshire, brokered a deal with Republicans over the weekend.
In her swan song Senate term, New Hampshire's Jeanne Shaheen led a small group of Democrats Sunday night in announcing they crossed the aisle and landed on a compromise with Republicans that might result in the government reopening as soon as the end of this week.
The deal includes means of keeping the government open through January, funding SNAP and food assistance programs for the entire year, and reversing the firings of thousands of federal workers and giving backpay to millions more.
It also comes with a promise from Republicans that negotiations on health
