COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Donald Fair, 32, was arrested tonight in connection with the deadly shooting of Demetrius Wilkerson at an apartment complex last week.

Fair is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court for a preliminary hearing Thursday at 8:30 a.m.

Columbus Police Officers responded to the 1400 block of Boxwood Boulevard at the Azalea Apartments at 3:32 a.m. November 8 for a shooting. Officers found Wilkerson, 30, suffering from a gunshot wound.

EMS responded to the scene but could not resuscitate Wilkerson. Deputy Coroner Ben Saxon pronounced him deceased at 4:10 a.m.

The Violent Crimes Unit took lead on the investigation and established probable cause to issue arrest warrants for Fair.
