JAMESTOWN — The 2025 Class B, Region 1 volleyball tournament started off with a bang on Monday.

In quarterfinal No. 1, Kidder County — the No. 4 seed out of District 2 — pulled off a 3-2 upset over top-ranked Hankinson to move on to the semifinals. The Wolves will face Medina/Pingree-Buchanan in the semifinal round Tuesday. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at Jamestown's Harold Newman Arena.

Medina/PB defeated Richland 3-1 in the quarterfinals. Senior Brynn Sorenson led the Thunder's attack with 19 kills while Destiny Opp put nine kills on the books.

In the back row, the Thunder had four athletes with at least 12 digs. Three players — Jorgen Tripp, Maddie Nagel and Aubree Lachenmeier — all recorded an ace.
