NORMAN — John Mateer hasn't had time to clear his head and step away from playing football in months.
During Oklahoma's first bye week of the season, the Sooners ' quarterback underwent surgery on his hand/thumb, so this one was his first opportunity to decompress.
Like most of the country, he watched football all day Saturday (with Fubo, as he too has been affected by the Disney/YouTube TV carriage dispute ).
"I didn’t really get to just chill before this weekend," Mateer said after practice Monday. "I valued it a lot and I didn’t take it for granted. But back to work."
Mateer has talked about being more disciplined with his eyes and footwork all season.
